Parting and Starting - Change and Release

The subject water as an elemental force, donor of
life and energy, recurs in Mlineritsch's photographical work. For years he
has devoted himself to the mysticism of this natural element. The
immense mobility of water is a metaphor for change. In the pictures the
running and sometimes raging element forms a contrast to rigid and
motionless surfaces of water.
But the depth of water also conceals secrets. Quite a few pictures were
created at reservoirs or at artificial lakes. The ability of water to engulf the
earth is a metaphor for departure. Looking at the semi-transparent
surface of waters, one can barely discern objects lying beneath. Are they
just released or already submerged?
